I got involved in IT by accident rather than by design! When I returned to the UK after spending five years working as a journalist in my native Jamaica, I wanted to publish a print magazine.
This was circa 1992 when the term “information superhighway” was buzzing in the air but to me it sounded like some new motorway the government was thinking of building…
I later got access to a computer and taught myself enough graphic design to be able to produce a print dummy of the magazine. I also learnt enough about this “information superhighway” thingamajig in order to pub this dummy online where it became an instant success. The name of the site was Yush. It is still visible today at http://yush.com.
Success with Yush enabled me to work as an IT Consultant, charging ridiculous amounts of money to advise small to medium sized companies how to make the most of their presence on the internet.
I’ve developed and grown since then and my company Yush is still providing such services to select corporate and blue chip companies.
Yush, the online magazine part, got dormant for a few years as work and other commitments took priority, but I am dusting it off for a relaunch sometime in 2009.
